KEY ROLES

CONSTANCE ARMSTRONG

  • Female | Age 18–25 | Caucasian
  • Lead Role – Protagonist
  • A pretty and spirited Southern belle with a scholar’s mind and a warrior’s heart.
  • Constance is bold, intelligent, and fiercely principled. Educated and forward-thinking, she dreams of being a professional journalist in a man’s world. She is compassionate but unafraid to confront authority—whether Union generals or her own family. She undergoes enormous transformation: from idealistic daughter to battle-hardened caregiver and patriot.
  • Skills: Must handle emotional intensity, sharp verbal confrontations, and quiet vulnerability. Scenes range from light romance to battlefield trauma to deep spiritual reflection.
  • Arc: Learns to balance love, grief, and duty while sacrificing comfort to uphold honor
  • (Speaks with a Virginia Southern accent.)

CAPTAIN AARON AMES

  • Male | Age 25–30 | Caucasian
  • Lead Role – Romantic Hero / Former Antagonist
  • A tall (6 foot or taller), reluctant warrior torn between allegiance and love.
  • Ames begins as a by-the-book Union officer but grows into a tender, soulful man changed by the war and Constance’s unwavering spirit. He is rugged, educated (Harvard), and morally driven. After being wounded and cared for by Constance, he is transformed by faith and affection. Despite being from “the enemy,” he sacrifices safety and status to protect her.
  • Skills: Needs charisma, emotional range, and physical presence. Must shift believably from rigid soldier to vulnerable lover.
  • Arc: From enemy officer to redeemed protector and man of deep integrity.
  • (Speaks with slight Portland, Maine accent.)

FRANK STRINGFELLOW

  • Male | Age 18–25 | Caucasian
  • Supporting Lead – Spy / Comic Relief / Hidden Hero
  • A small, wiry, clever Confederate scout with a quick tongue and fierce loyalty.
  • Frank is charming, humorous, and highly intelligent. Though often underestimated for his size, he proves himself an elite spy and master of disguise (including convincingly playing a woman). He is deeply loyal to Constance, hiding his romantic feelings behind good-natured banter.
  • Skills: Requires agility, comedic timing, gender disguise, and physical acting. Virginia Southern accent preferred.
  • Arc: From boyish companion to unsung hero. His love remains unrequited but noble.

Additional Notes

  1. The chemistry between Constance and Aaron is crucial to the film's success. We will conduct chemistry reads between potential pairs.
